Txakoli is, without a doubt, one of the most popular products of the Basque Country. It is a kind of white wine made with green grapes. It is a young and fruity wine, famous for its mild acidic flavor. It is thought that the word "txakoli" comes from "etxekoain" (which means "enough for the home" in basque) as it used to be handmade in the farmhouses in ancient times. Nowadays, it is produced in the Basque Country, Burgos and Cantabria. Also in Chile, a wine called "chacoli" has been produced for several decades now.
